Admission Essay Workshop for Pre-College Students Applying to Competitive Colleges

“Selling Yourself in Words: The College Essay” has been a hit in New York high schools. This workshop is a practical guide to writing a college admission essay. Emphasis is placed on the writing process and methods for making students essays “stand out in the crowd.” See the workshop link on the Services page for more detail.

New Work Completed

Festival of Tears—Poems in Blue / Stories in Black is a fictional work, based on actual events, that personalizes the effects of lynching in America through short story, narrative and poetry. It speaks in several voices, including white and black mothers, the lynched and other victims directly or indirectly affected by lynching or its implied threat.

A compact disc will be included with the printed volume that features selected poems read with musical accompaniment. Eddie is currently seeking a publisher for the work, which he intends to make available free-of-charge to selected schools and colleges.

Eddie is presently available for school and public readings and workshops using the material from Festival of Tears.
